“It shouldn't be the consumer's responsibility to figure out what's cruel and what's kind, what's environmentally destructive and what's sustainable. Cruel and destructive food products should be illegal. We don't need the option of buying children's toys made with lead paint, or aerosols with chlorofluorocarbons, or medicines with unlabeled side effects."-Jonathan Safran Foer
We stumbled across this quote and wanted to share it with you all. We agree that consumers shouldn't have to dig deep to discover the truth and that in an ideal world, there wouldn't be any products that were harmful to you or the environment. Unfortunately, this isn't the case. We live in a world where these items do exist and we often don't know the truth about what we are eating or using unless we choose to educate ourselves on the item.
Every year we discover more of the products we use daily are harmful to ourselves and the environment. We often feel shocked and confused at why these products were ever allowed to be created in the first place and yet we have often found a place for these items in our daily routines. We feel torn between giving up our routines or our morals. Yet, it doesn't always have to be such a compromise, there are alternatives to harmful products and there was a time when we lived without them. Did you know that plastic has only existed for around 50 years? Did you know that nearly all of the plastic that has been produced in those 50 years still exists today. We need to stop feeding this industry and perhaps the easiest way is to go back to basics.
There was a time when people didn't throw items away. If it was worn out or stopped functioning you would fix it or find another use for it. Our hope is that people will stop throwing away items and will switch to products that are reusable and sustainable.
We hope to make this transition an easy one by helping you find products that can replace your old ones in functionality and practicality without throwing all your morals out the window. You shouldn't have to worry about damaging the environment when sipping on a smoothie and with ours, you won't have to.
